Every screen becomes an
interactive terminal
Say goodbye to lost remotes, dirty public touchscreens, tripping over podium cables, and buying expensive wireless dongles. See how forward-thinking teams embed RemoteTyping across displays worldwide.
Touchless Form Filling & Directory Search on Standard TVs
Turn any standard TV or HDMI monitor displaying a web page into an interactive kiosk. Visitors fill out customer feedback, search directory maps, or submit registration info directly from their smartphone without needing physical peripherals.
Touchscreens cost $2,000+ per unit, get covered in greasy fingerprints, and break constantly. Using an IR TV remote to type an email with arrow keys takes minutes.
A QR code renders in the corner. Visitors scan it with their phone camera, type with their native phone keyboard and autocorrect, and navigate smoothly with a multi-touch trackpad.
Untethered Presenters Walking the Stage While Live-Typing
Presenters can freely roam the stage during live product demos and keynote talks. Type terminal commands, search live queries, or enter sample data on the giant projector screen from the palm of your hand.
The speaker is handcuffed to the podium laptop or awkwardly crouching over a table whenever they need to enter text or click a button during a live web demo.
Presenter holds their phone while pacing the stage. Fluid cursor synthesis and real-time keystroke replication keep the audience glued to the big screen.
Collaborative Incident Response on Wall-Mounted Dashboards
Engineering and DevOps war rooms run Grafana, Datadog, or AWS consoles on wall TVs. When an alert fires, anyone in the room can immediately take control, drill into latency spikes, and filter logs without unplugging cables.
"Who has the wireless mouse?" or passing a 20-foot HDMI cable across the conference table disrupts focus while production servers are failing.
The on-call engineer points their camera at the TV corner, zooms into the exact timeframe, types a regex filter into the log search bar, and diagnoses the root cause.
Interactive Storefront Windows & 3D Showroom Configurators
Convert window shoppers into qualified leads after business hours. Shoppers scan the QR code through the glass window to browse catalog items, configure car interiors, or schedule test drives on the high-definition showroom display.
Expensive storefront screens sit playing repetitive video loops after closing time. No way to capture interest or interact without physical touch or expensive waterproof sensors.
The pedestrian on the street scans through the glass pane. Their phone controls the screen 10 feet inside the store. They enter their phone number to receive a quote or save their cart.
Sterile Patient Intake & Contaminant-Free Clinical Screens
Prevent cross-contamination in medical clinics, surgical scrub rooms, and bio labs. Patients complete symptom questionnaires and digital waivers on wall monitors using only their personal mobile phones.
Shared pens, clipboards, and touchscreen monitors in doctor's waiting rooms are vectors for hospital-acquired infections (HAIs). Cleanroom staff have to de-glove to use standard keyboards.
Patients and medical staff never touch a shared surface. Sensitive patient ID numbers and medical conditions are typed discreetly on personal devices.
Roving Instructors & Student Spotlight Collaboration
Transform lecture halls and interactive training labs. Teachers walk around assisting struggling students while still typing formulas or navigating web diagrams on the smartboard.
The teacher is pinned behind the computer console at the front of the room. Calling a shy student to walk up to the whiteboard to type an answer causes anxiety and slows down class momentum.
The instructor passes control to any student at their seat with a temporary scan. The student solves the equation or submits code right from their desk for the entire class to review.
How RemoteTyping Compares to Traditional Options
Eliminating physical peripheral hassles with modern web standards
| Capability / Metric | RemoteTyping | Physical Bluetooth Mouse/KB | Hardware Dongles (Barco/Crestron) | Touchscreen Hardware |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Installation Requirement | 1-line HTML Script Tag | Pairing menu & OS settings | USB drivers / dongle firmware | Specialized touch display monitor |
| Network Compatibility | Anywhere (5G, LTE, Isolated Wi-Fi) | 10m Bluetooth line of sight | Must share same corporate LAN | Direct HDMI/USB cable |
| User Onboarding Speed | Instant (Scan QR with camera) | Manual Bluetooth pairing (2-3 min) | Plug-in & wait for driver detection | Walk up to screen |
| Hygiene & Sanitization | 100% Touch-Free (Own Device) | Dirty, shared surface | Shared handheld transmitter | Fingerprint & germ buildup |
| Hardware & Upkeep Cost | $0 Additional Hardware | $50-$150 + battery changes | $800 - $3,000 per room | $2,000+ per kiosk unit |
| Session Security | Auto 5-min inactivity timeout | Stays permanently paired | Requires manual button press | Public physical exposure |

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the user need to download or install a mobile app?
No. Users simply scan the QR code with their default camera app (iOS Camera or Android Google Lens). It opens an instant web controller in Safari or Chrome with multi-touch trackpad and keyboard support. A native Flutter app is also available for power users.
Do the TV and mobile phone need to be on the same Wi-Fi network?
No. Unlike AirPlay, Google Cast, or Bluetooth which require identical local subnets, RemoteTyping communicates securely over global Cloudflare Durable Object WebSockets. The TV can be on a wired Ethernet corporate network, and the phone can be on a cellular 5G connection.
What prevents strangers from taking over the screen in a public venue?
RemoteTyping uses exclusive single-controller sessions. Once a user scans and connects, the session locks to their device. An automatic 5-minute inactivity alarm safely terminates the session if left unattended, instantly rotating the QR key. Additionally, domain authorization guarantees that only your whitelisted website origins can initiate sessions.
Can I reuse the same widget across multiple pages on my website?
Yes. You can paste the same snippet with your widget ID on your homepage, search page, checkout flow, or kiosk directory. In the analytics dashboard, you can view granular metrics broken down by individual page paths and sessions.
